Graphic Artist Shares Knowledge With Looking Glass Youth
Over multiple visits in recent months, local graphic artist Matt Brundage, on loan from Eugene’s Imagination International Inc, spent hours with Looking Glass students at Riverfront and Center Point Schools teaching youth about drawing techniques. In addition to showing off his amazing artistic skills, Matt brought humor and fun into the classrooms at Looking Glass.
Center Point Celebrates Holiday Breakfast at Excelsior Inn
For the 11th consecutive year, Looking Glass’ Center Point School, an alternative therapeutic middle and high school, held its annual holiday breakfast gathering at The Excelsior Inn in Eugene. The staff at The Excelsior opens its doors for this private gathering and provides a steep discount to the program to allow our clients to enjoy an amazing meal and a unique experience of fine dining during the holiday season.

Out and About: Center Point School Students Meet with Mayor Vinis
As part of Center Point School's twice a week "Out and About" off-site trips, students were able to meet Mayor Lucy Vinis and learn about their local government. "Exposing students to activities and parts of their community they haven't had a chance to see or experience is important in their growth and education," explained Center Point School Family Services Coordinator Crystal Hall.
Graduation Day: Center Point & Riverfront Schools
Looking Glass Center Point and Riverfront alternative schools held their respective 2018 graduation ceremonies on Thursday, June 14th celebrating the culmination of years of hard work and support from teachers, counselors, families and friends for a group of aspiring and inspiring local youth. Each school has its own traditions for graduation ceremonies and each was emotional and celebratory for another unique group of Looking Glass clients.

The activities of the week ended with an open house at the school preceding graduation events on Thursday, June 14th. "The purpose of the Open House is to celebrate the amazing work our students engaged in throughout the academic school year." Said Lynda Whitener the Program Director for Center Point.

At Looking Glass Center Point School, utilizing the latest tech tools helps keep the students engaged and sparks their creativity. The recent acquisition of new Lego Mindstorms education tools was a bit intimidating to the staff at first, but with in-person training provided by a member of the Lego Academy (yes, that's a thing), the staff is feeling confident in its Lego building skills.
